Overview:
Narrative and Fiction (or Imaginative) essays focus on telling stories, rather than just proving something. In many ways, this allows you some room to explore a lot of different options in your writing. You will also find that these types of essays usually don’t have strict rules that go along with them such as the number of paragraphs to use or how to structure a paragraph. However, there are still some things to explore to help raise your narrative and fiction writing to a new level. On the left you will find some suggestions that you may want to experiment with. However, you will find that not every suggestion suits every type of narrative or imaginative essay you are writing.
Again, remember that all types of writing become stronger when you pay careful attention to grammar, punctuation, and sentence construction. Simply putting thought into how to best create sentences for your personal writing will have a tremendously positive effect on your finished product.
